Wiltshire Council to host Highways and Transport Careers Fair this October

Wiltshire Council is hosting an exciting event for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the highways and transport sector.

The Highways and Transport Careers Fair, on Wednesday 16 October, will showcase a wide range of roles and opportunities, including highway maintenance, public transport operations, traffic management road design, engineering traffic modelling, planning contracting and project management.

The fair will take place in the Atrium, County Hall, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN, from 1pm – 4pm, and anyone with an interest in a role in the highways and transport sector is welcome to attend.

As well as representatives from the council, there will also be organisations on hand to discuss upcoming roles and opportunities, including Salisbury Reds, the National Careers Service (Seetec), Upton Specialized Tree Services, idverde, Milestone, Octavius, First buses, Atkins, MJ Church, Tarmac, Kiely Brothers and Stagecoach.

Cllr Tamara Reay, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “This careers fair is an exciting opportunity for people to explore the wide range of highways and transport roles we have across Wiltshire.

“It’s a great way to explore different career paths, meet others with similar interests, learn more about yourself and potentially find a new career.

“I encourage people to come along and talk to the teams. It’s a great way to hear about first-hand experiences and learn more about the different roles. You’ll be able to network with our highways and transport teams, as well as our leading external partner organisations and contractors. It’s a great opportunity to find out more and ask questions to see whether a career in highways and transport is for you.

“Working in highways and transport is rewarding, it’s about making a difference and delivering the best outcomes for our communities.“
