If you are thinking of entering someone for the Highways Heroes Awards, consider our handy guide first
Whether its saving someone from danger or risk of injury, helping a member of the public to safety, or supporting a team member in the face of abuse the highways heroes awards recognise individuals who have coped admirably in the face of adversity, to recognise the heroic actions of them which, until now, has gone unnoticed.
There are no specific categories for the awards due to our firm belief that no good deed or selfless act should go unnoticed. There are no limits on the number of people who can be nominated from each organisation by any specific nominator.
Think the three B’s-Brave, bold and beyond.
Brave: Has anyone in your team of any of the companies you work with in the supply chain displayed an act of bravery to help someone else? It could be a fellow worker or a member of the public.
Bold: Has any individual been bold enough to tackle and issue that might have otherwise been ignored? Have they been bold enough to take on a challenge that improves a situation or helps someone out?
Beyond: Has the person or team you are thinking of nominating gone above and beyond their daily duties to show coverage and noble, decent qualities or simply went over and above to help or support someone or improve something?
We don’t need you to write an essay or even get the grammar right, we just need you to step back from the day job and think about all those things we do that go above and beyond the ‘day job’.
Ideally, we want people to nominate their colleagues, peers, team members or managers or maybe the person is an industry colleague from another company.
There are no specific categories or minimum criteria as we know the selfless acts of those in our industry know no boundaries. However, to give you some guidance, you can nominate someone for a random act of kindness, for courage, bravery or even saving a life. Maybe it’s someone who took it upon themselves to help a charity and got their company and colleagues on board to ‘just do more’ or perhaps it’s someone in the office who always goes over and above to help the team…the list is endless.
