National Highways proposes a new traffic regulation for the A21 in Kent, aiming to ban stopping and parking, impacting several key road sections and interchanges.

National Highways Limited has announced a proposal for a new traffic regulation order affecting the A21 Trunk Road, spanning the districts of Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Malling, and Tunbridge Wells in Kent.

The proposed order, named The A21 Trunk Road (Sevenoaks To Kipping’s Cross) Clearway Order 2025, intends to enforce a ban on stopping, waiting, and parking across several sections of the road.

The specific areas affected include both the coastbound and London-bound carriageways of the A21 between Chevening Road overbridge and Kipping’s Cross Roundabout. Additionally, all slip roads leading to and from these sections at Morleys Roundabout, Fairthorne Interchange,

Longfield Road Interchange, Pembury Interchange, Chipstead Interchange, Quarry Hill, Vauxhall Interchange, and Henwood Green Road Junction are included in the proposal.

This order aims to replace and revoke the previous regulation known as The A21 Trunk Road (Sevenoaks Bypass And Tonbridge Bypass) (24 Hours Clearway) Order 1992. It also seeks to clarify the status of the road between Tonbridge and Pembury.

The draft order and related documents can be inspected at Sevenoaks District Council offices or Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council offices during office hours until May 9, 2025.

Alternatively, they can be requested via email from Dean Westall at National Highways.

Individuals wishing to object or make representations regarding the proposal must submit a written statement by May 9, 2025.
