National Highways is advising drivers travelling on the A21 in Kent to plan ahead as there will be a series of weekend closures to repair and improve the structures on the A21 Tonbridge bypass between Morley’s roundabout and Vauxhall interchange.

The work will start this summer, with the first closures on 10 – 13 June 2022 between Morley’s roundabout and the Vauxhall interchange. There will then be further closures in Autumn 2022 and Spring 2023.

The first set of closures will be refurbishing the bridge deck at Lower Haysden bridge, replacing the expansion joints at Upper Haysden bridge and replacing the waterproofing and road surface at Powder Mill bridge.

These will take place over four consecutive weekends from 10 June.

From midnight on 10 June to 6am 13 June, and from 8pm 17 June to 6am 20 June there will be a full closure of the northbound carriageway between the Vauxhall interchange (A26) and Morley’s roundabout (A225), as well as a single lane closure on the southbound carriageway.

From 8pm 24 June to 6am 27 June, and from 8pm 1 July to 6am 4 Julythere will be a fully closure of the southbound carriageway between Morley’s roundabout (A225) and Vauxhall interchange (A26), as well as a single lane closure on the northbound carriageway.

During these closures road users will be diverted on to the B245, A227 and A26. This work is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. To find out more visit, people can visit the project webpage www.nationalhighways.co.uk/A21TonbridgeBypass
