Westminster 5* venue announced as location for Highways Heroes Awards.
Safer Highways are delighted to announce that our one-off special event, the Highways Heroes Awards will take place at the QEII conference centre in Westminster on the evening of 2nd December 2021.
The Highways Heroes Awards come after a time of unprecedented change not only in our industry, but as part of our everyday lives. Safer Highways believes this is the ideal time to celebrate the hard work and success of our workers, who have coped admirably in the face of adversity, to recognise the heroic actions of them which, until now, has gone unnoticed.
Whether its saving someone from danger or risk of injury, helping a member of the public to safety, or supporting a team member in the face of abuse, you or a member of your team could be named a Highways Hero as part of this new and unique awards.
Designed to celebrate the hard work and success of our workers, who have coped admirably in the face of adversity, to recognise the heroic actions of them which, until now, has gone unnoticed, the Highways Heroes will be judged by their industry peers, led by Kevin Robinson, Chief Executive of Safer Highways and Joe Docherty, Vice Chairman of the organisation and Adam Green, CEO of FM Conway.
Entry is simple via an online form with the opening date for entry being Monday 19th July with submissions to be made on the soon to be launched Highways Heroes portal - www.highwaysheroes.com
Speaking about the venue for the awards, Joe Docherty, Vice Chairman of Safer Highways said: “It feels a really fitting time to celebrate the heroic efforts of our workforce, especially after the couple of years we have endured during the pandemic and our choice of venue reflects that.
“In the QEII Centre we have availed ourselves not only of world class facilities but also one of the most iconic convention centres in the UK, if not beyond.”
Adding to this Safer Highways Chief Executive, Kevin Robinson said,
“As a community Safer Highways felt the time was right to launch this unique event. Initially planned as a one off, these awards aim to compliment our SH Awards - which are always held as part of the annual SHL!ve event.
Because of the stories we have heard about our people over the last year and in the past, we couldn’t leave the opportunity to recognise them go by. It would be great when we all come together on December 2nd in London, we see these unsung heroes having their moment in the spotlight and as an industry have the chance to say ‘thank you’, and the QEII centre gives us a venue befitting of doing just that.”
