North East £500m road surfacing framework out for early consultation

NEPO, the North East Procurement body have begun laying the ground for its next generation highway surfacing contact whicnh will run for eight years from November 2025.

Suppliers are being invited to help shape the framework through a market engagement questionnaire available through NEPO’s Open e-Tendering system. Interested firms must submit responses by 4pm on 2 May 2025.

The deal will cover both planned and emergency surfacing to principal and minor roads, footways, and even off-highway sites such as car parks. Works will include resurfacing, reconstruction, patching, anti-skid treatments and pothole repairs.

An online briefing session is also planned for 6 May ahead of an invitation to tender being published on 26 June.
