FM Conway CEO, Joanne Conway, has stepped away from the company following the completion of VINCI Construction’s acquisition of the family-run firm last week.

Newly appointed managing director (MD) Andrew Hansen will oversee “the next phase of FM Conway’s evolution and growth” within VINCI, under the new agreement which completed on Friday (31 January).

Conway became CEO at the family-run business in November 2023, replacing Adam Green who stepped down due to health reasons.

The daughter of late chairman and owner Michael Conway, she has worked within the company for more than 20 years and been a member of the board since 2011.

Before becoming chief executive, Conway was responsible for the manufacturing arm of the business as managing director of the Aggregates and Asphalt division.

Hansen said: “This is an exciting new chapter in FM Conway’s story, opening up fantastic opportunities for how we deliver for our clients and for communities.

“We’ve always been a company that has pushed boundaries and embraced new opportunities.

“Over the past 27 years, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing firsthand what this business can accomplish.

“Now with the additional firepower of VINCI Construction behind us, I’ve no doubt that our people will continue to achieve great things.  The future is very bright.”

As well as becoming the new MD at FM Conway, Hansen has been made an EXCOM member of the UK division of VINCI Construction. He joined FM Conway in 1998.

Mark Goldsworthy remains chief financial officer (CFO) of FM Conway, while joining its Board will be Xavier Lansade, and Scott Wardrop, chief executive of VINCI Construction in the UK.

FM Conway will continue to operate as a standalone business within the wider VINCI Construction group, delivering maintenance and construction services across various sectors.

The business employs more than 2,000 people and has a turnover of £580 million.
